Blessing In Disguise?

Well I thought I had finally got rid of all things that were causing me problems using the computer and getting online... even had a new telephone point installed where the computer is and got a new computer... but something unexpected happened and cut me off from the rest of the world for days!
I was working on the computer last saturday and it kept cutting off more than usual... we have been having very unusual amount of high wind and heavy rain so I assumed it was weather interferance. I shut down and started to get ready to go shopping. There was a knock on the door and it was a man from the telephone company, he said the telephone pole which holds our wires (us and about 7 other houses around us) has been badly damaged, it`s dangerous and has to be replaced. They didn`t have one in stock so unfortunately we all had to be without telephone connection until they can replace it and he didn`t know how long it will take. I had no way of getting online and the only phone I had was my mobile(cell) phone which I only use in emergency due to cost of using it, so I couldn`t let anyone know what was going on except close family!.
I had no idea what happened to the pole but Johnny says someone had driven into it and buckled it too badly for it to be used. He said it will end up being a blessing in disguise and a few days inconvenience will be worth it. Today they finally put in a new pole and reconnected the phone, now I have about 500 emails to go through!!!
I think the blessing in disguise Johnny was talking about is (hopefully) because they had to reconnect the phone line altogether. Since I had it connected previously I have had a bad crackly line, and even though I have broadband if the phone is used when online, the phone is noisy & crackly and the internet cuts off. I got a phone call earlier which let me know the phone was back on and it was lovely and clear... and I tried the phone whilst the computer was online, no noises and it didn`t cut off the internet connection... I hope whatever was causing the bad line before has been solved, I am hoping it had been the phone line all along, time will tell!
