Important Warning for Facebook Groups users...

Several weeks ago Johnny and I joined a few Facebook groups of various themes of interest to us. I noticed on one that "There are currently no admins" and a blue link underneath "Become admin". I clicked that link, thinking I would be given the opportunity to offer help, and was amazed to find I was automatically made sole admin of the group. I tried to remove myself from admin and was warned "You are the last admin, removing yourself will cause the group to be deleted", so I left it as it was. I checked all the members and no-one was listed as "admin" "owner" or "creator", so I emailed all members stating I had accidentally become admin, wasn`t sure if that means I own the group or not and don`t know who the original owner is or if they are still in the group. No-one responded. I asked a few friends who own Facebook groups and they all said they think it means the group was open to adoption, and that means I now own it. So I made a few changes and started uploading stuff, hoping it will encourage members to participate too.
Now, over a month later the original owner decides to come back and has been rude, nasty and hostile over what had been a genuine accidental mistake on my part. Instead of just contacting me so I could explain what happened, he has spread word I "Hacked" his group with intent to take over, and has been harrassing and threatening me by site-mail. Now he says he is going to take me to court over it because I "Hi-jacked" his group. This is rubbish but he won`t take my word for it. All I know is if it does go to court then he will be cross summonsed for serious wrongful accusation, harrassment and deformation of character, at the very least! 
He site-mailed me last night and made out I was harrassing him and threatened if I contact him again he will get Facebook to remove me...  I was only trying to explain what happened and he was the one harrassing me!. I wrote back and told him I have no intention of carrying on with this nonsense and it is him who should stop writing to me. Then I reported him to Facebook for harrassment. Now today one of his members has also started writing abusive site-mails to me too, maybe he has put her all up to it because he can`t contact me anymore... what a childish man!!!
Anyway the warning is please don`t bother "becoming admin" in any groups displaying that notice, it`s not worth the hassle, much better just to create your own group! Sadly none of his members are in my "Facebook Friends" so as I have been blocked from the group I don`t know what is being said, but I know it can`t be nice and is totally untrue and un-neccessary! This is just a friendly warning about what seems to be a glitch in Facebook allowing automatic group adoption for what may not even be abandoned groups!

However, I have heard back from Facebook and I was totally within my rights as group admin to make changes to the group, all material within a group is at the sole responsibility of the admin/s. Furthermore they asked me to tell him I couldn`t have become admin unless either the owner had appointed me, or as in my case, the group was left without admin and there was a blue link inviting people to take over, either way it was his fault the group was left open to adoption! I don`t know if he is proceeding with his threats but he will find I have a far stronger case that he does. If I find my Facebook account gets deleted at his demands then I will make sure I take him down with me!. Plus I will have no hesitation to go to the press and tell how easy it is to make the simple mistake I made within Facebook, become victimised and intimidated by egotistic idiots who think they have a right to do so, and that Facebook appears to favour the trouble makers over the innocent!. I will also go to greater lengths to name him, his group and his website in each and every one of my blogs, groups, websites etc!

Facebook have re-confirmed to me that I acted completely within my rights and their terms of use and that my account is in good standing, I will NOT be forced out or have my membership deleted just because this guy wants it
